BOULDER — The education of Colorado point guard McKinley Wright has entered the hard-knock stage. And the lessons are painful.
At the final buzzer, after the Buffs had lost 76-74 to Oregon State, Wright trudged to a lonely end of the team bench, dropped his head and grabbed a fistful of his CU basketball shorts with both hands, letting the agony of yet another defeat in a frustrating season wash over him.
“Nobody hates losing more than McKinley Wright,” Colorado coach Tad Boyle said Thursday.
With the game in the balance during the final minute, the Buffs put the basketball precisely where they wanted it: In the hands of Wright.
