NEW ORLEANS – Colorado track and field star Dani Jones was named the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Female National Athlete of the Week, the association announced Tuesday morning.
The senior made history Saturday when she placed seventh in the New York Road Runners Wanamaker Women's Mile at the 113th Millrose Games. Jones broke a 32-year-old Wanamaker collegiate record as she finished in 4:27.88. The race broke into a sprint early, leaving Jones to lead a pack at 4:30 pace as the leaders finished with Elle Purrier breaking the American Record at 4:16.
