EUGENE, Ore. — University of Colorado alum Dani Jones finished eighth in Saturday's USATF Outdoor Championships women's 1,500, clocking a 4:09.86 at Hayward Field.
The top three finishers — Sinclaire Johnson (4:-3.29), Cory McGee (4:04.52) and Elle St. Pierre (4:05.14) — all earned berths on the U.S. team for the August world championships, also to be contested at Hayward Field.
Jones ran in the back of the pack early, then briefly closed the gap on the third lap. But she couldn't keep up the pace when the lead group broke away on the final circuit of the track and she finished eighth.
