SACRAMENTO—The second day of the NCAA West First Round saw Colorado send its first athlete through to Austin, Texas, and the NCAA Championships on Friday.
India Johnson, who was seeded 11th in the 10,000-meters, qualified for the NCAA Championships with a top 12 finish to close out the night. She stayed inside the top 12 for the majority of the race, running with a pack that pulled well in front of any challengers. Johnson crossed the finish in 32:44.12, placing ninth in the field of 48.
Bailey Hertenstein was the first Buff to qualify for Saturday's quarterfinals on the day.
