FORT COLLINS — Dick Wiedeman will leave a part of himself behind when he walks out of Hughes Stadium for the final time Saturday night.
The sweat that dripped from his brow was baked into the concrete during the summer of 1967, concrete he poured to help erect the home of Colorado State’s football team.
Wiedeman has returned to the site of his labor for every CSU home game since. He was there when the Rams lost to North Texas State in the debut of the stadium in 1968. And he was there two weeks ago when CSU beat Fresno State 37-0 for the school’s first shutout in 19 seasons.
