How CU hoops passed the “toughness” test versus Colorado State

BOULDER — Colorado passed the poise test, though not always with flying colors.

The Buffaloes had drained a dozen consecutive shots at one point early Saturday afternoon, zooming out of halftime on a 17-9 run — only to watch an 11-point lead with 6:19 left, and cruise control, turn into one-point deficit to Colorado State within a span of four minutes.

“Mental toughness,” Buffaloes coach Tad Boyle said after his team rallied to nab a 86-80 win over Colorado State. “Being able to handle that adversity late in the game. Down the stretch, you’re up 10, now you’re down one.
