Herrera Takes West Regionals Lead

BOULDER – The University of Colorado track and field senior led the Buffs here Saturday on the final day of the 2022 Colorado Invitational, winning the men's 1,500 in an altitude converted top-five NCAA time.

Herrera, who battled strong winds all day, won the men's 1,500 in 3:44.46. He not only won the race by eight seconds, but with altitude conversion his mark translates to 3:39.11 which betters the previous NCAA West-leading time of 3:40.50 set by Oklahoma State's Fouad Messaoudi. His mark is good for fourth in the NCAA before today.

The top mark for CU men in terms of CU history belonged to today in the men's high jump.
