A Colorado Buffaloes football legend has received an impressive new job title.
Eric Bieniemy — a former CU tailback (1987-1990) who rushed for 3,940 yards and 41 touchdowns — is the new offensive coordinator for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced Tuesday.
Bieniemy, a New Orleans native, played nine years in the NFL between the San Diego Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles before returning to CU as running backs coach in 2001 and 2002. After coaching stints at UCLA and with the Minnesota Vikings, Bieniemy was brought back as the Buffs’ offensive coordinator for another two seasons in 2011 and 2012.
