LOS ANGELES — Several former University of Colorado cross country and track & field athletes raced last Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Team Marathon Trials and were led by Kara Goucher, who placed fourth overall,
Goucher, who was attempting to make her third straight Olympic Team, earned the alternate spot on the U.S. roster after finishing the 26.2 mile race in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds. She ran the marathon at the 2012 London Games and also ran the 10,000 in 2008 in Beijing.
On the men’s side, another former Buff and two-time Olympian, Dathan Ritzenhein, had to pull out of the race around the 20-mile mark due to cramps.
