Hundreds gathered at the Islamic Center of Boulder on Friday afternoon to pay respects to former Colorado star Rashaan Salaam.
Members of Salaam’s family, legendary CU head coach Bill McCartney, dozens of former CU players and current administrators were all on hand to say goodbye to Salaam, who was found dead in a Boulder park on Monday night in what is suspected to be suicide. He was 42.
The funeral service, called jannazah, was held in conjunction with the weekly jummah congregational prayers at the Islamic Center.
An estimated 500 people were in attendance, with roughly half of them taking part in the jummah.
