CARY, N.C. – Aya El Sayed began play at the ITA All-American Championships Saturday morning at the Cary Tennis Park in pre-qualifying matches.
El Sayed started action against Theadora Rabman a freshman from North Carolina. Rabman came into college considered a blue-chip recruit and the No. 1 player from New York in the class of 2023. With all of that El Sayed knew she was going to have a tough match on her hands.
Early on in the first set it was a back-and-forth affair with neither player pulling away. As the set drew to a close El Sayed could not hold on, dropping the first set 6-4.
