The CU club triathlon team will be competing in their first race of the season in the annual Mountain Collegiate Conference this Saturday at Lake Havasu, Arizona.
The event is an Olympic-distance triathlon that includes a 1,500-meter swim, a 40-kilometer bike and a 10-kilometer run.
“It’s a tough course,” said coach Brad Seng. “It’s not flat, the bike course has hills, you run through sand and there’s a set of stairs the athletes have to run up and down.”
With a total of 16 national championships, Colorado holds the most championships among any other school in the nation.
