Junior Mads Stroem won his seventh career race despite crashing as the University of Colorado ski team finished second at the Utah Invitational on Monday at Soldier Hollow Resort in Midway, Utah.
Stroem and the men's racers started the day with the 15K classic race, and the Buffaloes, who were tied with Denver and six points ahead of Utah, moved into sole possession of the lead by 14 points after the Buffs won the men's race with 90 points.
Despite a third-place finish from sophomore Petra Hyncicova in the 10K women's classic race, the Utah women finished first and second to surge ahead of the Buffaloes and win the meet.
