Things were looking pretty bleak for Colorado late in the first half of the Rocky Mountain Showdown on Saturday.
The running game that looked so potent the previous weekend against Massachusetts was sputtering, leading rusher Michael Adkins was out with an injury, quarterback Sefo Liufau had thrown for only 35 yards and the Buffs trailed rival Colorado State 14-3.
Then out of nowhere, Liufau found sophomore receiver Shay Fields in one-on-one coverage on the left sideline for a 65-yard touchdown pass. Two plays later, CU's Ken Crawley intercepted Nick Stevens and gave CU the ball on the CSU 35, giving the Buffs a chance to take a lead into the locker room.
