Sioux Falls, S.D. — Unable to slow No. 7 Iowa State's momentum on either side of halftime, the Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team suffered a 68-62 season-opening loss Friday at the Sanford Pentagon.
The Cyclones closed the first half on an 8-0 run and, after a basket by CU's Josh Scott opened the second half, added a 10-0 run to put the Buffs in a hole from which they couldn't quite recover.
CU did battle back midway through the second half, getting consecutive 3-pointers from George King to spark an 11-0 run that brought CU within three points at 43-40.
