BOULDER — It was a workout bursting with the sort of exuberance and instruction always expected when the basketballs first get rolled onto the court.
That said, University of Colorado men's basketball coach Tad Boyle was quick to point out it was just that — Day One of a six-month journey that, ideally, won't end until the latter stages of March.
"A lot of teams have good practices the first day," Boyle said. "October the second, everybody is optimistic. The challenge isn't being excited on Oct. 2, it's being excited on March 2, Feb. 2. In the dog days of the season, that's when you've got to have that excitement level.
