It was a narrow escape, but one the Colorado men's basketball team will gladly take.
Overcoming a pesky, hot-shooting performance from Omaha, the Buffs barely held off the visiting Mavericks down the stretch to escape with a 79-75 nonconference win Friday night at the CU Events Center.
A steal by Tyler Bey that he turned into a fast break layup and a 3-point play gave the Buffs a 77-72 edge with 29.9 seconds remaining. Omaha's Zach Jackson answered with a 3-pointer and, following a turnover from CU point guard McKinley Wright, Omaha had a chance to tie or even take the lead.
