CU lacrosse ranked 17th in preseason poll

The University of Colorado women's lacrosse team is ranked 17th in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll which was released on Monday.

The Buffs went 16-4 overall in 2017, earning their first-ever bid to the NCAA tournament and were ranked 16th at the end of the season. CU returns seven starters, including leading scorer Darby Kiernan.

The Buffs start the season of Feb. 9 against Michigan, and then face No. 5 Florida two days later.

Defending NCAA champion Maryland notched 24 of the 25 first-place votes and start the season at No. 1.
