Derrick White's NBA apprenticeship has taken an unfortunate detour.
On Monday, the San Antonio Spurs announced the rookie guard from the University of Colorado suffered a right wrist fracture Saturday night while competing for the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League. The team did not disclose how long the 2017 first-round draft pick is expected to be sidelined, stating a timeline will be revealed at a later date.
White, the 29th overall selection in the June draft, has appeared in four games totalling 21 minutes for San Antonio, going 0-for-2 from the floor and 1-for-4 at the free throw line with six rebounds, two assists, one block, one steal, and no turnovers.
