SALT LAKE CITY — Larry Zimmer's brilliant run has come to an end.
On Saturday, the long-time KOA broadcaster left the booth for the final time after Colorado's 20-14 loss to Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
"I was really hoping I could go out with a Colorado win," Zimmer said.
That wasn't in the cards for Zimmer, 80, but he nonetheless looked back with pride after 42 seasons at KOA and 50 overall.
"The fact that I can look back on a half century of doing college football is very, very special to me," said Zimmer, whose first game 50 years ago was a tilt between Michigan and Oregon State.
