Bill Brundige, one of the most feared defenders and most honored football players in Colorado Buffaloes history, passed away on Dec. 29 after a battle with cancer, CU announced Thursday. He was 70.
The 6-foot-5 Brundige, who died at his home in Knoxville, Tenn., was a key cog at defensive end and defensive tackle for the Buffs’ 1967 Bluebonnet Bowl and 1969 Liberty Bowl champions and was inducted into the CU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.
The pass-rushing specialist, who was born in Holyoke and starred at Haxtun High School, was tapped as a first-team All-American as a senior in 1969 by the Football Writers Association of America and Look Magazine.
