Colorado women's basketball recruit Bria Rice has asked for and been granted her release from the letter of intent she signed with the Buffaloes in November.
A 5-foot-8 guard from Federal Way, Wash., Rice was recruited by former CU head coach Linda Lappe and signed her letter of intent in the fall.
With sophomore Kennedy Leonard entrenched as the starter at point guard, Rice decided to pursue other opportunities. Leonard was named to the Pac-12 all-freshman team last season.
Rice's decision leaves CU with two players in the 2016 class: 5-foot-9 shooting guard Quinessa Caylao-Do from Tacoma, Wash.
