Rick George said he did, in fact, give CU men’s basketball coach Tad Boyle his NCAA Tournament bonus after all.
And Boyle turned around and gave it right back.
“I did offer Tad the bonus on the principle that we felt like he earned it,” George, the Buffs athletic director, told media during a conference call Thursday afternoon. “But Tad declined it.
“And he proposed that we use it in other areas that would help us during this crisis.”
Boyle’s contract with the Buffs calls for a $105,000 bonus for participating in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which was cancelled because of fears over the spread of the coronavirus.
