CU Buffs name Darrin Chiaverini interim head football coach

Darrin Chiaverini has been named the interim Colorado head football coach following the departure of Mel Tucker to Michigan State, CU athletic director Rick George announced Wednesday in a news release.

Chiaverini, 42, has spent four seasons as CU’s wide receivers coach in addition to the role of assistant head coach last season. He is a former Buffs wide receiver.

“I have a lot of confidence in Darrin to lead us through this interim period,” George said. “He has been associated with the program beginning with his playing days 25 years ago and cares deeply about the Buffs.
