Colorado freshman runners Madison Boreman and Sage Hurta each earned a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas.
Boreman earned her spot at nationals after finishing third in the first heat of the steeplechase to collect one of the three automatic qualifying positions. Her time of 10 minutes, 11.7 seconds was good for fifth overall. Teammate Sage Hurta crossed the finish line in second place in her section with a time of 10:17.67 to automatically qualify as well.
"Madi Boreman running in the first heat, running really smart getting third as three automatically advance," CU coach Mark Wetmore said.
