The University of Colorado track and field junior Joe Klecker has been named the Pac-12 track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Klecker earned the honor after running the fastest 1,500 in the nation last week at 3:45.11, and by doing so at altitude he took over the national-lead after the altitude conversion dropped his time to 3:39.75. The next closest time in the nation is William Paulson at the Stanford Invitational at 3:42.53.
This is the ninth Pac-12 Athlete of the Week award in CU history and the first in the 1,500-meter run.
