The Colorado men's golf team earned a split in its two matches on the first of two days of match play competition Tuesday in UCLA's Gifford Collegiate in Napa, Calif.
Unfortunately for CU, the loss came in the first match against No. 36 Northwestern, which rallied to edge the No. 24 Buffaloes, 3-2 with one match ending all square. The Buffs did rally to handily defeat Wisconsin in the consolation bracket semifinal, 4-1, again with a match ending in a tie.
The Buffaloes had finished fourth in the stroke play portion of the event Monday on the 7,171-yard, par-72 Silverado North Course, which hosts the PGA Tour's Safeway Open.
