Colorado football transfer Deion Smith told reporters during BYU’s first day of fall camp that he decided to make the move to Provo via the transfer portal in order to find “more consistency” after being part of a rebuild every year.
“Based on the trajectory of how things were going, I just felt like I wanted a little bit more consistency, because the program had been in a rebuild phase every year,” Smith said (h/t Deseret News). “I needed something a little bit more solidified.”
To be fair to Smith, he did have three different full-time head coaches (Mike MacIntyre, Mel Tucker, Karl Dorrell) and two interim head coaches (Kurt Roper, Mike Sanford) in Boulder before Coach Prime had even arrived.
