SAN DIEGO/FORT COLLINS — The University of Colorado women's tennis team picked up a pair of consolation victories between the CSU Jon Messick Invitational and San Diego Intercollegiate Championships Saturday.
On the west coast, Elys Ventura took down Pac-12 conference foe Belen Nevenhoven of Arizona in straight sets. She took the first set with a perfect 6-0, then finished the match 6-2. Ventura teamed up with Mila Stanojevic as the duo took down another Arizona tandem in doubles exhibition 6-3.
Rain halted any action of doubles in the main tournament in Fort Collins, but the Buffaloes continued on in the consolation rounds with freshman Anya Nelson picking up her first win as a Buff.
