SACRAMENTO – It was a busy day in Sacramento for Colorado's track and field program, but the final event of the day qualified four Buffaloes to the NCAA National Championships in the 10,000-meter run.
The women were the first up for 25 laps of racing, and it was Kaitlyn Benner and Makena Morley that persevered. The two stuck with the lead pack of 11 women a majority of the race until the leader decided to leave the pack in the final 1,600 meters. Eight women remained in the chase pack, allowing Benner and Morley to stick with it to do just enough to qualify to nationals.
