BOULDER — In the week leading up to Northern Colorado’s road test at the University of Colorado, players knelt and huddled around coach Earnest Collins after a morning workout on the Bears’ grass practice fields. Odds would be stacked against the Football Championship Subdivision program playing the reigning Pac-12 South champion at Folsom Field. Collins had one request.
“This muscle right here has got to be big on Saturday,” he said, circling his heart with a pointer finger.
The Bears lacked no fight at Folsom Field, but it wasn’t enough for a shocking upset, as CU defeated UNC 41-21.
