Colorado Buffaloes retire Rashaan Salaam’s No. 19

Rashaan Salaam was honored posthumously as the fourth Colorado Buffaloes football player to have a number retired. His number 19 was put under the 1990 National Championship and will live forever on the east side of Folsom Field.

Salaam ran for 3,057 yards and 38 touchdowns during his time at Colorado (1992-94). The best season with the Buffs came during his illustrious 1994 Heisman winning campaign, racking up 2,055 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was drafted in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft, 21st overall by the Chicago Bears. Salaam’s NFL was cut short due to injury and ended in 2003.
