For the first time in major college football history, high school seniors and junior college transfers across the country have an opportunity to sign National Letters of Intent with their school of choice in December, more than six weeks before the traditional February deadline.
The early signing period — lasting from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 11:59 p.m. Friday — is sure to cause havoc as prospects and coaches are forced to show their true intentions before the recruiting process is completed through the regular signing period from Feb. 7 to April. 1.
