LOS ANGELES — In a city that loves a good script, Colorado walked into historic Memorial Coliseum on Saturday afternoon ready for its close-up.
Tagged with their first ranking in 11 years, the Buffaloes spent a week showered with the attention that inevitably comes when a long-dormant program finally starts stringing wins together. There CU was on ESPN’s “College Game Day” show. There coach Mike MacIntyre was on “SportsCenter.” There was the iconic Goodyear blimp floating overhead and recording the scenes on a sunny day at the base of the Hollywood hills.
All the love showered on surging CU set the stage for a statement, like only the underdog in all those movies they make in this town can.
