Time will tell if McKinley Wright's game evolves enough for him to eventually take a shot at a pro career before his eligibility is complete with the Colorado men's basketball team.
If Wright stays all four years, however, he will at least have an opportunity to become the first Buffaloes player to become a four-time winner of the Chauncey Billups Award.
On Wednesday coach Tad Boyle's program held its annual awards banquet for the 2017-18 season, with Wright leading the way as the winner of the Billups MVP Award. The rookie point guard became the first freshman to win the honor since the founding of the award following Boyle's arrival eight years ago.
