University of Colorado freshman David Ketterer picked an opportune time to win his first career giant slalom race, doing so Friday at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon on the first day of the 2017 RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships.
His win, in addition to top 10 finishes from Ola Johansen (sixth) and Max Luukko (eighth), helped propel the CU men's alpine team to a win in the giant slalom race on the first day of the championships.
"On the men's side, I think it was mission accomplished," head coach Richard Rokos said. "We were trying to move David up from where he was (on the NCAA qualification list) and move him into the top five.
