Thursday, November 11, will mark the third and final Buffalo Belles luncheon of the year, capping its remarkable 50th anniversary season.
In 1970, football-loving Martha Johnson and a group of her fellow Buffalo fans wanted to gain more insight into the Colorado Football program, so she contacted the perfect person to help her find just that, then Head Football Coach Eddie Crowder. She pitched her idea of creating a group for women in the area who wished to become more involved in the Buffs program to coach Crowder who supported it. From there, a tradition was born.
The first luncheon for the Belles, then named the Ladies' Quarterback Club, was held in the fall of 1970 with guest speaker, Head Men's Basketball Coach, Sox Walseth.
