There was a time, not long ago, that Liz Kritza looked overmatched as the head volleyball coach at Colorado.
Three years into her tenure at CU, Kritza's Buffs were a miserable 19-66, including 6-56 in conference play (two seasons in the Big 12, one season in the Pac-12).
If Kritza's seat wasn't hot, it was certainly warming up.
An impatient administration might have sent Kritza packing after year No. 3. That was 2011, when the Buffs finished their inaugural season of Pac-12 play at 1-21 (6-24 overall).
Kritza, however, persuaded then-athletic director Mike Bohn and senior associate AD Ceal Barry to stick with her because better days were coming.
