BOULDER — It’s the body language that scares the snot out of you. Shoulders slumped. Head down. The fire in the eyes that you love replaced by a glaze of here-we-go-again ennui.
Steven Montez wasn’t plain bad at Washington State. The CU Buffs’ fifth-year quarterback was grande bad. Venti bad. He was bad with whipped cream and sprinkles on top: 16 completions on 30 attempts, two interceptions, no touchdowns, two sacks.
But more concerning was the overall vibe, the verbal and non-verbal cues. At one point, ESPNU’s sideline reporter declared that Montez was seen trading verbal jabs with the locals at Martin Stadium.
