OJAI, CALIF. – University of Colorado junior tennis student-athlete Alex Aiellosaved the day for the Buffaloes, winning in three sets and advancing on day one of the 2015 Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, Calif., Thursday afternoon.
Aiello became the first CU woman in the four-year history of the Pac-12 Conference to win a singles match on the first day of any main draw singles tournament, then advance to the Round of 16.
Aiello played Utah’s Alexia Petrovic, Thursday night (details to follow later this evening) in the Invitational Singles Bracket.
Aiello upset the No. 8 seed from UCLA, Kristin Wiley, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the Round of 32 Invitational on Thursday and was one of five CU women, who won a singles match Thursday.
