BOULDER — When Simon Caceres arrived at the University of Colorado's Potts Field for a recent practice, high jumper Mason Chronowski spotted him, calling out to CU's most diminutive recruit. "Simon, what's up, dude?" Chronowski yelled. "We're going to stretch. Want to join us?"
Simon, 7, is quick to take his place with the jumpers, mimicking their stretches and yoga poses on a glorious Colorado afternoon. Soon, Chronowski is leaning over backward to form an arch with his body, and Simon is crawling beneath him.
Simon has cystic fibrosis, Type 1 diabetes and a heart condition.
