Mel Tucker capped off the first day of the Early Signing Period for 2019 with the announcement of KJ Trujillo coming to Boulder. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback from Orange Lutheran HS (Orange, Calif) attracted interest from several “Power 5” schools including Oregon, Arizona, Vanderbilt, and Washington State.
Former CU secondary coach ShaDon Brown originally recruited the three-star prospect back in May, but there was doubt Trujillo would still commit to the Buffs with the impending coaching staff changes. As a shutdown corner, Trujillo is the newest part of the “Money Gang” secondary who racked up 102 tackles, 20 pass deflections, six interceptions and a forced fumble in the past three seasons at Servite and Orange Lutheran.
