Oskar Olausson dressed for the occasion in a white collared shirt with black slacks when his life changed forever.
Olausson — the Colorado Avalanche’s first overall pick in the NHL Draft at No. 28 — watched it happen live on television Friday night while surrounded by teammates in Plymouth, Mich. The 18-year-old winger is a member of Sweden’s U20 national team that is preparing to play this week at the 2021 World Juniors Summer Showcase.
Sweden’s team manager, Linus Hugosson, posted a video of Olausson’s reaction when Avalanche GM Joe Sakic called his name. The room erupted with clapping as Olausson is bear-hugged by a line of proud teammates.
