Tyson Jost signs with Avalanche, will play down the stretch of regular season

The Avalanche on Wednesday night agreed to terms on a three-year entry level contract with 2016 first-round draft choice Tyson Jost.

Jost will join the Avalanche and play down the stretch of the regular season, perhaps as soon as Friday against the St. Louis Blues at the Pepsi Center. But because he will play fewer than 10 games, the ELC will slide to next season and still run through 2019-20.

He also had the option of returning to the University of North Dakota for at least one more season. Jost finished his freshman season with the Fighting Hawks last weekend, when North Dakota fell to Boston University in the first round of the NCAA West Regional at Fargo.
