Tyson Jost selected No. 10 overall by Colorado Avalanche in 2016 NHL draft

The Avalanche Friday night claimed 5-11, 190-pound center Tyson Jost of the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League with the 10th pick of the NHL draft at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

Jost plans to attend the University of North Dakota and play for the NCAA championship program for at least the 2016-17 season. He also was heavily recruited by the University of Denver, but settled on North Dakota. He is only the fourth college or college-bound player drafted by the Avs since 2013.

In two-plus seasons with Penticton, he has 65 goals and 84 assists in 97 games.
