The streak? Well, it’s now officially a rut. The Avalanche dropped their sixth straight contest late Wednesday night, this one a 5-4 decision to the San Jose Sharks, the longest losing streak of the season. The Avs (19-14-8) had dropped five straight from Oct. 27 through Nov. 9.
More concerning, the power play that had given so much to Colorado over the season’s first two months has struggled to find its old juice. Tyson Jost’s goal off a deflection with 3:24 left in the third while the hosts had a man advantage, cutting the Sharks’ lead to just a goal, was only the Avs’ third in their last six home contests.
