Semyon Varlamov returns, but Reto Berra still in charge of Avs' nets

TORONTO — Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov practiced Tuesday morning at the Air Canada Centre for the first time in a week, since the team said he injured his groin in a morning skate at Philadelphia.

Avs coach Patrick Roy will continue to ride Reto Berra — who leads the NHL in goals-against average (.150) and save percentage (.953) — in Tuesday night's game against the Maple Leafs. Roy said Varlamov skated pain-free and will continue his on-ice rehabilitation in Pittsburgh. Colorado plays the Penguins on Thursday in Game 5 of its seven-game road trip.

Against Toronto, Berra will make his fifth consecutive start.
