SEATTLE — Former Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer is scheduled to serve as Seattle’s backup when the teams play for the first time late Friday.
The struggling expansion club (4-11-4) will start Chris Driedger against Colorado at Climate Pledge Arena.
“Grubi’s ready to go whenever we need him in net,” Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said after the morning skate. “For sure, he’ll have another opportunity to face his former team.”
Grubauer, who played the three previous seasons for the Avs before signing with Seattle as an unrestricted free agent, has a 4-8-1 record and a career-low .
