ANAHEIM — The Avalanche have made a habit of late-game comebacks this year, but Sunday night was a first.
NHL scoring leader Mikko Rantanen scored with 1.3 seconds left in overtime to send Colorado to a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, the team's first triumph in five trips to the extra period this season.
The goal came from a pass by Nathan MacKinnon, whose goal at the end of the second period and shot that was deflected in by Gabe Landeskog a little more than midway through the third period spurred the Avalanche (10-6-4, 24 points) back from a 3-1 deficit.
