Jarome Iginla opened the scoring in the first period when he partially whiffed at a bad-angle shot from the goal line. If the puck wasn’t sideways, it wouldn’t have slipped between goalie Michal Neuvirth’s pads and the post. Among his 596 career goals, Iginla said it was probably the second luckiest.
“That was close. Definitely one of the luckiest,” he said. “But I had one where I dumped it in and it was in line with the (circle) dot and the goalie went to play it.
